Unique, Bridal Trapunto Quilt
A Lancaster County Quilt Creations Limited Edition Antique Reproduction
Breathtaking in its beauty and originality.
Thirteen 6-pointed stars representing the 13 original American colonies surround center Heraldic eagle? Then framed with additional raised Trapunto relief work, some small flowers that are just beautiful frame the eagle, and thirteen 5 pointed stars are placed into this banding. A name adorns this framing "Margaret Ellen Lyne Loudon Virginia " and is dated 1838. This frame is surrounded by a double intertwining feather wreath, and this central motif is framed by some small feather design Trapunto work bringing order to this wonderful quilt. Finally a winding feather surrounds the entire quilt making a One of a kind, example to be cherished for generations. This quilt was produced by Lancaster county quilt creations, and is one of our limited edition museum quality antique reproductions. The name and date for this quilt of ours and was chosen to comerate one of the ancestors in our line of genealogy, Margaret Lyne. She was born 1824, in Loudon Va., and was married in the year of 1838 at 14 years of age. And died during the year of 1879, in the state of Ohio. This quilt was made as a gift for a family member who was a direct descendant of Mrs. Lyne. Unfortunately this family member has passed away and now this wonderful quilt is back with me, so I am offering this one of a kind quilt for auction.
The size of the quilt is about 88 x 85 inches.
As for the quilting, it is very close and beautiful, all Trapunto items are extravagantly quilted and the whole background is covered in approximately. 1/2-inch furrows to keep all the cotton batting and layers in perfect order. The fineness of the quilting shows in the photos, and is very good quality. The quilt is in near perfect condition with no tears or seam flaws that I could find. The only problems of any kind that I see are a few places where the stuffing materials came through during the stuffing process, and some slight discolorations in the banner that says E Pluribus Unum, in the inner folds of the letter B. but barely noticeable (please see the close up photos as all discolorations were removed upon washing this beautiful quilt) and any small protrude of these materials could be trimmed without any damage to this near perfect quilt. A few loose thread tails also protrude from the quilting process; the full on photo of this quilt was taken before it was professionally cleaned, as pencil marks remained around this same banner.( sorry that this was the only full on photo that I could easily find ) As far as I can tell all quilting is beautiful and intact. I have been familiar with quilts for most of my life and particularly I have a love of antique quilts, and when we first decided to produce these custom Brides Quilts, we chose to reproduce to the most minute detail the original Trapunto quilts of the early 1800's. A quilt of this workmanship takes our skilled workers about 100 eight-hour days to complete.
Truly this is one of the most beautiful quilts that I we have ever produced.
This quilt is a stunning piece, and will be the highlight of any collection
